'The dirt they throw will be the soil from which we GROW! We will never be broken."

NAME shares the sentiments in this statement authored by BlaqOut* in solidarity and profound sorrow over the Club Q Shooting in Colorado Springs:

“Our hearts are with the victims of the Club Q Shooting in Colorado Springs. We are all sickened with grief for our queer siblings in Colorado and across the nation who are struggling through their shock and pain after last Saturday’s heinous mass shooting. Safe spaces like Club Q are significant pillars in the lives of queer people, who are presented very few options, if any, of environments where they can show up as their full and free selves.…
“Although so many of us are grappling with the profound pain that accompanies such tragic loss, we encourage our community to take solace in the fact that the gutless actions of others do not define us. The dirt they throw will become the soil from which we grow. We will regroup as we always have. We will rebuild as we always will.

“And, most importantly, we will never be broken.”

This community — OUR community — represents an even more marginalized subgroup within the larger LGBTQ context that needs protection from acts of hatred like the Club Q shooting.
